Florida Real Estate Sales Associate License Requirements
To become a licensed real estate sales associate in Florida, you must complete a state-approved 63-hour pre-licensing course, pass the Florida real estate state exam, and submit your application through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
Florida Real Estate School offers fully online, Florida-approved pre-licensing courses that satisfy the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) education requirement and prepare you for the state exam.
To qualify for a Florida real estate sales associate license, you must meet specific state requirements before sitting for the exam. These include:
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess a U.S. Social Security number.
• Complete a state-approved 63-hour pre-licensing education course based on the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) syllabus.
• Provide proof of course completion when you schedule your state exam.
• Pass the official Florida real estate licensing exam administered by Pearson VUE with a minimum required score.
The pre-licensing course certificate is valid for two years from the date of completion; if it expires, you must retake the course before scheduling your exam.
Eligibility & Background Check Requirements
In addition to education, the Florida DBPR requires a background check before issuing a license. You must submit electronic fingerprints and disclose any criminal history when applying for authorization to take the state exam. Applicants with felony convictions may still be eligible, but DBPR reviews each case individually.
